Social Enterprise Summit
Innovations that Strengthen Social Services in Challenging Times



EVENT:
A half-day educational and networking symposium for leaders in the greater New York social services community and their funders.

THEME: HBSCNY will provide to the greater New York social services community a half-day focused on meeting the challenges of the current economy, including best practices for non-profit leadership, governance and organization and current developments among funders.

DATE: Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009; Program Noon-6:00; Reception 6:00-7:30

LOCATION: The Harvard Club, New York City

ATTENDEES: 250 Executive Directors and Board Chairs from non-profits in the social service sectors and leaders from foundations and other funding sources.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Sonal Shah, White House Director, Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation.

STRUCTURE: Two interactive panel sessions moderated by HBS professors followed by smaller group working sessions and a networking reception.

Panel topics include:

                Panel 1: Funder-Agency Partnerships
                Panel 2: Structural Changes for Survival and Growth
               
                Networking at lunch, coffee breaks, and a cocktail reception at the end of the day.
                HBS alumni currently working at or on the boards of New York area non-profit
                organizations will join us for the evening reception.

MODERATORS & PANELISTS: Selected from HBS Professors, innovative leaders in social services, funders, non-profit oriented service firms and special guests.

TAKE-AWAYS: Written short summaries of the interactive panel sessions will be prepared, bound and distributed to all attendees within three weeks of the event. These summaries will be made available to all Club members at no cost, and sold to non-members at minimal cost.

SPONSORS: A limited number of invited sponsors will be promoted at the Harvard Club, in pre- and post-conference materials and on the HBSCNY web site.
