The hedge fund industry has emerged from the financial crisis with strong performance across many strategies in 2009. The environment has also created unprecedented opportunities for talented managers to find attractive investments and to grow their businesses. Please come to hear some of the most experienced and successful investors in the hedge fund industry at this season's first Hedge Funds Roundtable. The event will be followed by a networking reception.

Duke Buchan, Chief Investment Officer, Hunter Global Investors 

Duke Buchan III is the CIO of Hunter Global Investors L.P., an investment advisory firm he founded in 2001 which currently has over $1 billion in assets under management. Mr. Buchan also serves as the primary Portfolio Manager of the funds managed by Hunter. Before founding Hunter, Mr. Buchan was a Managing Director of Maverick Capital, Ltd. and served as the Sector Head of Maverick's Global Financial Services Group between 1997 and 2001. Prior to Maverick, Mr. Buchan was a Vice President with Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York. As a member of Merrill's Global Financial Institutions Group between 1992 and 1997, Mr. Buchan specialized in Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions in the U.S., Europe and Latin America. Prior to Merrill, Mr. Buchan worked at NationsBank and at Smith Barney. Mr. Buchan received a B.A. in Economics and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1985 and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1991.

Stephen Siderow, President, BlueMountain Capital Management LLC

Stephen Siderow is a co-founder of BlueMountain and its president. Prior to co-founding BlueMountain, Mr. Siderow was a senior consultant with McKinsey & Company. As an Associate Principal in McKinsey’s New York Office, he focused on the Financial Services industry, serving senior management executives and CEOs on a variety of issues in business strategy, organization and operations. He was also associated with McKinsey’s Professional Services and Marketing practices. Prior to joining McKinsey, Mr. Siderow was a corporate attorney with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in New York. He holds a J.D. cum laude from the Harvard Law School and was a Fulbright and Sheldon Scholar in Israel. He also holds a B.A. magna cum laude in Philosophy from Amherst College. Daniel H. Daniel H. Stern, Chief Executive Officer, Reservoir Capital Group  

Daniel Stern is Founder and Co-CEO of Reservoir Capital Group, a New York based investment management firm that specializes in the management of opportunistic funds on behalf of its family office, endowment and pension fund Limited Partners.  He was President of Ziff Brothers Investments, a private investment advisory firm, from 1992-1997.  Mr. Stern previously served as Managing Director of William A.M. Burden & Co., a private, family investment firm and an Associate at Bass Brothers Enterprises, a Fort Worth, Texas-based investment management company.  Mr. Stern has participated in the formation and development of numerous investment management entities, including HBK Investments, Och-Ziff Capital Management, Starwood Capital, Ellington Capital among others.  Mr. Stern currently serves on the Asset Managers' Committee of the President's Working Group (PWG) on Financial Markets.  He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School.  Mr. Stern and his family reside in New York City.

Moderator
David Romhilt, Director of Manager Research, Barclays Wealth

Mr. Romhilt is responsible for the Manager Research and Selection Group, and serves as Director of Manager Research. The Manager Research and Selection Group oversees selection and ongoing monitoring of all managers on the traditional, hedge fund and private equity platforms. The team is responsible for due diligence on all investments that the Portfolio Advisory group recommends to clients. He is also the Chief Investment Officer of Lehman Brothers Trust Company, N.A. and works with trust personnel to assist clients in implementing portfolio strategies.

Prior to joining Barclays Wealth and its predecessor, Lehman Brothers, Mr. Romhilt worked for Neuberger Berman Trust Company, N.A., where he was a Vice President. He began his career at Cambridge Associates, LLC, where he served as a senior analyst, and worked with numerous well-known endowments and foundations.

He has been awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
