The Harvard Club of New York City will present a panel discussion focused on The Three Faces of a Woman Entrepreneur.  Speaking will be Lilian Lincoln Lambert (MBA ’69), Ilene H. Lang (MBA ’73) and Selena Cuffe (MBA ’03).  The moderator will be Nancy L Lane (PMD-1975).

This program will be an insightful and lively discussion by three HBS entrepreneurs who give breadth and depth to the word “entrepreneur” in their barrier breaking efforts to blaze their own paths.  Panelists include:

Lillian Lincoln Lambert
(class of '69) rose from humble beginnings in the segregated South, made history as Harvard's first black female MBA, and founded her own building maintenance business in her garage on a shoestring. Over 25 years, she grew Centennial One into a $20 million operation with more than 1,200 employees. Her clients included blue-chip companies such as Dulles National Airport, ABC News, and Hewlett-Packard. Lillian shares her hard-won lessons about the world of business in her just published memoir, The Road to Someplace Better: From the Segregated South to Harvard Business School and Beyond.

Ilene H. Lang (class of '73) is broadly recognized as a pioneering female high-tech/Internet executive. She was the founding CEO of AltaVista Internet Software Inc., a subsidiary of Digital Equipment Corporation. Prior to that work, she was Senior Vice President of the Desktop Business Group at Lotus Development Corporation. Today, Ilene is President and CEO of Catalyst, the leading research and advisory organization working to build inclusive workplaces and expand opportunities for women and business. Ilene will draw on Catalyst's research findings to raise the level of discussion to include the latest trends and the climate for women in business leadership.

Selena Cuffe (class of '03) – Inspired by an HBS entrepreneurial marketing course, Selena, who founded the business with her husband Khary (class of ‘07), traveled to South Africa in 2005 and found the seed (in their case, a grape) to a company, which they insisted had to be rooted in social responsibility. In what Selena calls a "lifetime commitment to Africa," Heritage Link Brands is the largest company in the United States dedicated to importing and distributing wine produced by indigenous African vintners and people of African descent throughout the world. The Cuffes are recipients of 2009’s Black Enterprise Small Business Award.
