Panelists

Merrill Brown is the founder of MMB Media LLC.  Prior to that he has served as SVP, RealNetworks, responsible for the RealOne business including programming, subscription sales, marketing, advertising sales and technology.  He was the first Editor in Chief of MSNBC.com, and grew that to become one of the most visited news offerings on the Web.  He has worked with Time, Money, Court TV, and The Washington Post amongst others.  Brown serves on the boards of Smashing Ideas, the Center for Citizen Media, New West Publishing, the International Women’s Media Foundation, iFocus, the Institute for the Connected Society, Project Agape, and the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism.

Bernard Gershon is a digital media consultant with a focus on the convergence of information and entertainment. He sits on the Advisory Boards of Boxee, and several other companies in mobile and online video. Bernie was formerly SVP and GM, digital media, at The Walt Disney Company. In this role, he was responsible for developing revenue opportunities and distributing Disney/ABC content to all digital media platforms. He created ABC News Live, the Web’s first 24/7 streaming news network, and introduced ABC News on Demand, the first standalone subscription service from a major network

Himesh Bhise is responsible for products and strategy at the Gerson Lehrman Group leading initiatives in Media. He was formerly GM of the High Speed Internet business at Charter Communications, where he achieved industry-leading growth, and led initiatives in advanced advertising, TV Everywhere, and home networking. Himesh was the GM of the Mobile business at AOL, launching messaging, search, GPS, and entertainment products working with wireless carriers and OEM's around the world. Earlier, he was an Associate Partner with McKinsey & Company.

Bruce Upbin is a Managing Editor at Forbes, overseeing new projects across all media platforms.  He's been a reporter and and editor covering health, technology and energy for Forbes magazine for 15 years.

Renee Plato is Vice President, Digital Video Distribution for Disney and ESPN Media Networks. In her position, Plato oversees the growing multiplatform distribution efforts of The Walt Disney Company and ESPN network properties such as ABC, ABC News, Disney Channel, ABC Family, ESPN and ESPN3.com. Ms. Plato is responsible for distribution of the networks through affiliate partner digital channels such as broadband, electronic sell through, ITV, VOD, Over The Top, widgets and other emerging technology platforms whose focus is digital video. Prior to her move to ESPN, Plato was the senior director of business development at Sony BMG’s Global Distribution Group in New York. She also served as the Director of Digital and Mobile Business at Universal Music Group in Toronto, Canada.
