Power and Glory in Turbulent Times: The Stories and Lessons of Three Unlikely Leaders

Please join the HBS Club of New York and the HBS Women's Association as we welcome Professor Nancy Koehn to speak at the Harvard Club on Thursday, October 25th, at 6:30 pm.

Power and Glory in Turbulent Times:  The Stories and Lessons of Three Unlikely Leaders

In this interactive presentation, Harvard Business School historian Nancy F. Koehn will offer up three stories of effective leadership in turbulent times:  Rachel Carson, Katherine Graham and Oprah Winfrey.  Each of these individuals exercised enormous impact, impact that was deeper and wider than any of them imagined or sought.  Each did so against great odds.  And each nurtured and sustained a powerful, unabashedly moral vision.  What can we learn about effective leadership in our own volatile moment from a retiring biologist who was also a poet, a cripplingly shy society matron who took over a newspaper, and an African-American entrepreneur who built a business partly in response to her own demons?

Jeanette Wagner has generously agreed to sponsor this event so that HBS alumni can enjoy this presentation at the elegant Harvard Club.

Come, join the conversation on October 25, and find out.  For more information on Nancy Koehn's background, please click here.
