Few of us will escape unanticipated healthcare needs – surgery, an accident, a hospital stay, or increased needs due to an illness or disease. Research indicates that the connection you build with your medical team directly correlates with the confidence you have in them, as well as the confidence you have in your own decision-making abilities. As you head into this unfamiliar territory, it suddenly dawns on you: you need help, and you’re not sure where to turn. Or even where to begin.
In their newly released book The Confident Patient, authors Beth Myers and Wendy Benson share stories and experiences dedicated to improving the patient experience. Beth is a registered nurse and founder of 2×2 Health; Wendy is a healthcare executive and occupational therapist. Written in collaboration with the medical community, The Confident Patient is a go-to guide as we navigate the healthcare journey, for both ourselves and our loved ones.
After years of experiences and interviews with medical teams across the country, Beth and Wendy recognized recurring themes: medical teams intuitively want to support their patients, but they don’t always feel they’re on the same page. Ranging from costly medications to online research to second opinions, Wendy and Beth will share strategies and insights on ways to improve your healthcare decision-making and your outcomes.
