POSTPONED – Charting the Next Frontier in Luxury Retail: Saks President Marc Metrick

Thu, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
General PublicConsumer/Fashion

Description

Over the last decade, Marc Metrick, President of Saks Fifth Avenue, has established himself as one of the brightest executives in the evolving retail landscape. With over 25 years of cross-functional experience in strategic development, merchandising, marketing, operations and finance, Metrick has shown a keen eye for spotting the next frontier. Since assuming his role in 2015, his strategic focus on reinventing and elevating the customer experience has enhanced Saks Fifth Avenue’s reputation as a leading luxury retailer and fashion authority.

He recently oversaw the $250 million renovation of Saks Fifth Avenue’s iconic New York Flagship, creating the ultimate luxury shopping destination with immersive experiences, high-touch services and an unparalleled merchandise assortment. Beyond New York City, the flagship serves as the beacon for Saks’ 41-store footprint across the U.S. and Canada, and the luxury retailer continues to introduce aspects of this model across its entire fleet. On the digital front, Metrick and his team are leading the way in luxury clienteling by empowering its style advisors with digital tools, as well as making strategic investments to its digital channels – saks.com and the Saks app.

“I think over time, whether it’s because of the internet or brands opening their own stores or new entrants to the market, making a transaction wasn’t going to be why you came into a department store. You have to come to a department store for other reasons,” says Marc Metrick told WSJ Magazine last year.

Join the HBS Club of NY as we host Saks president Marc Metrick in an exclusive conversation moderated by CNBC’s retail reporter, Courtney Reagan.
