In 1996 a group of parents living with the loss of a child gathered together for solace and support. The families found comfort and support by being together and freely expressing their grief with people who could understand. The organization grew and now COPE offers special events and workshops, professional forums, a grief support line and an extensive website and ongoing support group meetings and the one-on-one support of peer mentors.
Now the board and staff of COPE would like to step back and review their mission and programs. Issues include:
– A “reality check”, are COPE’s vision and values still valid?
– Do COPE’s programs add value to the community?
– Are COPE’s board and staff in alignment for possible next steps?
