John D’Agostino, MBA ’02, is an in-demand expert to serve on corporate boards because he is a healthy cynic who helps keep organizations on their toes and to face unpopular truths that effects positive change. John D’Agostino is cynical about crypto, hedge funds, oil trading and most things in life, yet enthusiastic about their prospects for effective change. His role as an independent board member for Coinbase, several hedge funds and other organizations gives him a chance to ask the hard questions and to challenge his client organizations to pursue the right but often unwelcome path. Having experience in building the Dubai Mercantile Exchange, being the subject of two bestselling books (and one soon to be movie), and having weathered the many storms in crypto in recent years, he has seen the dark side and is trying to help his causes emerge to a brighter future with proper governance. John D'Agostino, MBA '02

John D’Agostino is Senior Advisor to Coinbase Institutional and serves on the board of directors of several of the world’s largest digital asset funds. John has a long background at the intersection of finance and technology. Shortly after graduating from HBS, and as head of strategy for the New York Mercantile Exchange, he helped transition the floor to electronic trading and led the effort to develop the first Middle East energy derivatives exchange in partnership with the Dubai Government. This work, and John’s role, was chronicled as the subject of two NY Times best-selling books, Rigged by local Boston author Ben Mezrich, and The Start Up Of You by LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman. John received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School and studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University. He lectures in Fintech at Instead, MIT and Columbia Universities. In 2019, John was named Chair of the United Kingdom’s US Asset Management Working Group by Her Majesty’s Government.

Mitchell Dong runs his family’s investment office and is a hedge fund manager. He has managed hedge funds which use quantitative methods to trade uranium, electric power, gold and mutual funds. Currently he runs a cryptocurrency trading fund which does arbitrage and trend following. In the past, Mitchell was a developer of solar, hydroelectric and cogeneration power plants. Mitchell is a graduate of Harvard College majoring in economics and the OPM program at Harvard Business School. Mitchell’s family philanthropy supports the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
