Three well-established non-profits provide a range of critical services and need help assessing strategies to meet the challenge of changing Medicaid policies.

The non-profit is a group of three independent organizations* working to ensure that adults and children with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to learn and participate in the community and lead full and satisfying lives. They provide the residential, day, employment, clinical and educational supports and services that make this mission a reality to more than 1,500 children and adults.
In response to impending changes in the Medicaid payment system, they are exploring options – including a co-owned shared services organization – to strengthen back-office operations while retaining their independence and flexibility.
*Information on the three non-profits will be provided to alumni expressing interest in volunteering.
Project: Operational Strategy
Through research and interviews, volunteers will develop a ‘straw man’ model of a workable shared services organization in sufficient detail to enable the 3 non-profits to move forward in the decision making process. Activities include:
