Description

Three well-established non-profits provide a range of critical services and need help assessing strategies to meet the challenge of changing Medicaid policies.

Sign Up by September 30th

Nonprofit:

The non-profit is a group of three independent organizations* working to ensure that adults and children with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to learn and participate in the community and lead full and satisfying lives. They provide the residential, day, employment, clinical and educational supports and services that make this mission a reality to more than 1,500 children and adults.

In response to impending changes in the Medicaid payment system, they are exploring options – including a co-owned shared services organization – to strengthen back-office operations while retaining their independence and flexibility.

*Information on the three non-profits will be provided to alumni expressing interest in volunteering.

Project: Operational Strategy

Through research and interviews, volunteers will develop a ‘straw man’ model of a workable shared services organization in sufficient detail to enable the 3 non-profits to move forward in the decision making process. Activities include:

  • Conducting research on relevant shared services organizations – structures, methodologies, pitfalls.
  • Reviewing existing NFPs’ resource capacity/constraints and propose high level organizational structure for a shared service organization.
  • Proposing methodologies for pricing services and measuring/demonstrating success.
