The Juilliard School is one of the foremost institutions of higher learning for music, dance, and drama with many notable alumni directing, composing, and performing on stages and screens worldwide. This highly valued Community Partners client has offered to host a truly rare event for a limited number of HBSCNY members. The evening will include a meet up with Juilliard’s COO Lesley Rosenthal and for the first 36 registrants, a visit to their private collection of musical treasures: manuscripts, sheet music and other original documents.
Along with a tour of the school (for all registrants), the evening will be topped off with a performance of Spring Dances, a regularly scheduled public performance by Juilliard student dancers and musicians. This year’s program includes Trisha Brown’s Set and Reset/Reset (2020) based on Set and Reset (1983), Donald McKayle’s Rainbow ‘Round My Shoulder (1959) with live music from Broadway Inspirational Voices, and Paul Taylor’s Promethean Fire (2002) with live music by the Juilliard Orchestra.
