Everyone has a favorite superhero – and on July 22, we will talk with Mark Read, CEO of WPP. In addition to leading the world’s largest advertising agencies and frequent recognition as one of the world’s top digital influencers, Mark has been a champion of diversity, named one of the HERoes Champions of Women in Business in 2018 & 2019.

Laila Worrell, HBSCNY Board Member and CEO of Altran Americas and frog design, will moderate a Q&A discussion with Mark Read, CEO of WPP. This virtual event will focus on Mark’s views on the future of the advertising industry, his vision as the CEO of one of the world’s largest agencies, and why he believes inclusion matters.

Mark Read

Chief Executive Officer, WPP

Mark was appointed CEO of WPP in September 2018. He has held multiple leadership positions at WPP, having first joined the Company in 1989. As Head of Strategy and then CEO of WPP Digital, Mark was responsible for WPP’s first moves into technology.

Earlier in his career, he co-founded internet start-up WebRewards and specialised in media and marketing as a principal at consultancy Booz Allen & Hamilton.

In 2015, he became Global CEO of Wunderman, which he transformed into one of the world’s leading creative, data and technology agencies.

Mark is regularly named among the world’s top digital influencers. He is the Chairman of the Natural History Museum Digital Council and was recognised as a HERoes Champion of Women in Business in 2018 and 2019.

Laila Worrell is the CEO for Altran North America. She previously served as Partner and Managing Director, Principal Investing and Private Equity, at the Boston Consulting Group. Prior to BCG, Laila held multiple leadership roles at Accenture and Macmillan. Laila holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
