VIRTUAL – Whole Foods CEO and Founder John Mackey: Elevating Humanity Through Business

Tue, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Zoom Webinar (Information to be sent to Registrants)
General PublicCareer & Leadership

Description

John Mackey is one the pioneers of the conscious capitalism movement. As a founder and CEO of Whole Foods, he led several initiatives to ensure equality within the food chain and improving lives of both humans and animals.

“Conscious Capitalism is a way of thinking about capitalism and business that better reflects where we are in the human journey, the state of our world today, and the innate potential of business to make a positive impact on the world. Conscious businesses are galvanized by higher purposes that serve, align, and integrate the interests of all their major stakeholders. Their higher state of consciousness makes visible to them the interdependencies that exist across all stakeholders, allowing them to discover and harvest synergies from situations that otherwise seem replete with trade-offs. They have conscious leaders who are driven by service to the company’s purpose, all the people the business touches, and the planet we all share together. Conscious businesses have trusting, authentic, innovative and caring cultures that make working there a source of both personal growth and professional fulfillment. They endeavor to create financial, intellectual, social, cultural, emotional, spiritual, physical and ecological wealth for all their stakeholders,” he has said.

Mackey is the co-author (along with Steve McIntosh and Carter Phipps) of the new book Conscious Leadership (Portfolio, September 2020), which closely explores the vision, virtues, and mindset that have informed Mackey’s own leadership journey, providing a roadmap for innovative, value-based leadership—in business and in society.

Conscious Leadership demystifies strategies that have helped Mackey shepherd Whole Foods through four decades of incredible growth and innovation, including its sale to Amazon. Each chapter will challenge you to rethink conventional business wisdom through anecdotes, case studies, profiles of conscious leaders, and innovative techniques for self-development, culminating in an empowering call to action for entrepreneurs and trailblazers—to step up as leaders who see beyond the bottom line.

Mackey’s book launches on Sept. 15 – and the HBS Club of NY is the first organization to host him during his book tour. Please join us for this illuminating conversation.

Participants must register by September 14th to receive details on joining the discussion.

Please note that no refunds will be issued.
