Howard Marks
Co-Chairman & Co-Founder of Oaktree Capital Management, L.P.
Marks was raised in Queens, New York, attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for a BSc and the University of Chicago for an MBA. In 1995, with Bruce Karsh and three others, he founded Oaktree Capital Management. During the financial crisis of 2007-08, Oaktree raised $10.9 billion, the largest distressed debt fund in history, to buy distressed assets, which “paid off richly for his investors”.
