SOLD OUT! ALUMNI ONLY – A Special Evening of Music, Dance and Learning at Juilliard (in-person)

Thu, 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM Peter Jay Sharp Theatre
Alumni OnlyArts & Culture

Description

When the world’s greatest actors, dancers, and musicians take the stage, they strive for a peak performance state in which they can perform at the maximum of their ability, encourage feelings of confidence by eliminating negative self-talk, and demonstrate effortlessness and total concentration on the act of performing. But what goes into this Olympian mindset? How is it cultivated, nurtured, and exercised? Most importantly—what about a peak performance mindset is transferrable to other professions?

Led by a leading peak performance coach who is also a Juilliard faculty member, this course will explore topics such as biofeedback, mitigating negative self-talk, maximizing motivation, optimizing performance in high stakes environments, and much more!

Experience a sneak peek into Juilliard Extension’s new professional development program,”Juilliard at Work”. The program is designed for professionals and corporate settings to foster creativity and innovation in the workplace through arts-based training and experiences. This class will be led by Performance Psychologist and Juilliard Alum, Noa Kageyama, who specializes in teaching performing artists how to utilize sports psychology principles to more consistently demonstrate their full abilities under pressure. Not only is Noa Juilliard faculty, he is also the performance psychology coach for the New World Symphony. He has conducted workshops at institutions including Northwestern University, New England Conservatory, Peabody, Eastman, and the U.S. Armed Forces School of Music. He has taught at programs such as the Starling-DeLay Symposium, the Imani Winds Festival, the Perlman Music Program, and the National Orchestral Institute, and for organizations like the Music Teachers’ National Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

The class will run from 5:30-7:00pm, followed by a break for refreshments, then a performance from 7:30-9:00pm of “Spring Dances”. Dancers from the classes of 2024-26  will perform three repertory works with music performed live by Juilliard music and drama students.

This event is being co-sponsored by The Juilliard School, a longstanding and highly valued client of HBSCNY Community Partners.

If you attended the prior Valentine’s session at Juilliard about “Dramatic Techniques for Effective Communication,” we ask that you allow others to register for this event.
