Description
Join us for a worldly evening with fellow alumni to explore the craftsmanship of wine. A perfect blend of networking, palate discovery, and the ancient art of Georgian winemaking.
Immerse yourself in an evening of camaraderie and exploration with the Georgian Wine Club.
The event’s exploration includes an exclusive wine tasting of Qvevri wines. Qvevri, an ancient Georgian winemaking method, involves fermenting and storing wine in large earthenware vessels buried underground, giving the wine a unique character and taste not found anywhere else in the world.
Wine has been at the epicenter of community, celebration and culinary arts across time and cultures. However, many of wine’s core traditions originated in a central location, the country of Georgia. Georgia is the birthplace of wine, boasting over 8,000 years of winemaking tradition.
During HBSCNY’s Georgian Wine Soiree, alumnus and Founder of the Georgian Wine Club, Ilia Gogichaishvili will guide you on a journey exploring the origins of Georgian winemaking, from its advent to its rise as an emerging artisanal powerhouse in the global wine scene.
The Consul General of Georgia in New York will provide opening remarks for the event, setting the stage for an evening of cultural celebration.
Georgian Wine Soirée will take place at the iconic Susan Inglett Gallery in Chelsea, where attendees will have a unique opportunity to meet with Susan herself and hear her story.
