Description
The HBSCNY Daytime Programming Committee invites you to experience one of the most innovative educational programs in the country. NY Sun Works is a non-profit organization that builds hydroponic farming labs in urban schools that offer students the opportunity to learn about science, climate change, sustainable development, and nutrition as they grow hundreds of pounds of fresh vegetables right in the classroom.
Since its first school partnership in 2010, NY Sun Works has built hydroponic farm classrooms in more than 300 NYC schools that have taught more than 500,000 students. NY Sun Works has also been honored with the HBSCNY Community Partners “Gold Leadership” award.
Come join us on Tuesday, April 2 at 4:00 p.m. at the High School for Climate Justice 320 E. 96th Street, where we will tour the lab and meet with teachers and students to learn about how hydroponic farming is enriching science teaching in NYC and beyond.
Pre-registration is required. A waiting list will be kept once the event is full. Please contact Programming@hbscny.org to be added.
