Antisemitism on Campus: Challenges for University Leadership at Harvard and Beyond. ALUMNI & HJAA ONLY/ VIRTUAL

Mon, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Virtual
Alumni OnlySocial and Racial Equity

Description

Events on many college campuses since October 7 have exposed the difficulties universities face in balancing the need to create a safe, respectful environment for all students with university commitments to academic freedom and free discourse. The results of this struggle at many elite institutions have been chaotic, painful, and very public: students have felt threatened, important donors have withdrawn their support, and two college presidents have stepped down.  Please join a Zoom discussion exploring the factors that have contributed to the current situation, and the paths forward to campuses that succeed in supporting a healthy learning environment for all students and lively intellectual debate with constructive differences of opinion.

Panelists include members of the Harvard Presidential Task Force on Combating Antisemitism and experts on corporate governance, sponsored by the HBS Club of NY and the Harvard Jewish Alumni Alliance.

Participants will include:
Jeffrey A. Sonnenfeld is the Senior Associate Dean for Leadership Studies at the Yale School of Management, a former professor at HBS, and the founder and CEO of Chief Executive Leadership Institute (CELI).  Jesse M. Fried is Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and a member of the Harvard Presidential Task Force on Combating Antisemitism.  Nim Ravid, Harvard ’25, was a member of former President Claudine Gay’s advisory group on anti-antisemitism and is now on the Harvard Presidential Task Force on Combating Antisemitism and a Technology Innovation Fellow at HBS. The moderator will be Jason E. Klein ’86, co-VP of Entrepreneurship for HBSCNY and a former board member of The Forward

Participants must register by Noon on Sunday, April 14th to receive details on joining the discussion. The Zoom link will be sent out 24 hours before the event.

Please note that no refunds will be issued.

By registering for this event you agree to abide by the HBSCNY Code of Conduct (read here)
