POSTPONED – Cheers! Boston Beer Company CEO Dave Burwick, HBS ’89, Discusses Beer (virtual)

Thu, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Zoom Webinar (Information to be sent to Registrants)
General PublicConsumer/Fashion

Description

Three years ago, Dave Burwick was named CEO of Boston Beer Company to lead the company through its next phase of growth. Burwick had a successful tenure at Peet’s Coffee & Tea, where over a six-year period as CEO he doubled its sales and profits. Burwick also had been a board member at the Boston Beer Company for 12 years.

The opportunity to lead another beverage company surely meant a new challenge for Burwick.

“As a director for over 12 years, I have admired the accomplishments of Jim (founder), Martin (prior CEO) and the team, and I share their passion for brewing quality, and their commitment to drinkers, wholesalers and retailers that is demonstrated in everything the company does. I look forward to leading the team and believe the future is bright for Samuel Adams and all our other brands,” he said at the announcement of his hiring.

Burwick was following in the footsteps of Jim Koch, who founded the company in 1984, and Martin Roper, his immediate predecessor who had a stellar run over 17 years.

Now, in 2021, Burwick has successfully navigated the challenges posed by the pandemic and is positioning Boston Beer Company for long term success. But being a specialty brewer in an industry dominated by the likes of InBev poses unique challenges. And changing consumer preferences is key – hard seltzers with low calories are all the rage today.

The HBS Club of NY has invited Dave Burwick for an exclusive conversation about the company, the forces shaping the craft beverage industry, and the lessons he has learned during his tenure. Join us for this insightful conversation. Burwick last spoke at the Club in 2015 when he was running Peet’s.

Participants must register by NOON on November 17th to receive details on joining the discussion. The Zoom link will be sent out 24 hours before the event.

Please note that no refunds will be issued.
