We are pleased to announce a very special event with the Paul Taylor Dance Company on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 4 to 6pm, featuring a private rehearsal of work by iconic choreographer Paul Taylor. Taylor Foundation Executive Director John Tomlinson will introduce the program, and it will be followed by a question and answer session with Taylor dancers, led by Artistic Director Michael Novak.
Legendary Dancemaker Paul Taylor died on August 29, 2018 at age 88. A towering icon, he stood for decades at the forefront of modern dance, the distinctly American art form he helped to create. During a 64-year career that began in 1954, Mr. Taylor choreographed 147 dances, many of which rank among the greatest ever made. They illustrate the best that human beings can be — and sometimes, the most evil. Although he thought of himself as an observer of human nature, he was much more than that. He showed us how to be better people. In 2014 Mr. Taylor established Paul Taylor American Modern Dance to help ensure that the art form he did so much to define flourishes long into the future.
