Startup Showcase – HBS Angels NY x US Southeast
Description
HBS Alumni Angels of Greater New York is pleased to partner with several startup accelerators and incubators in the Charlotte-Atlanta corridor on a unique online Showcase event, May 7th, 6pm — 7:15pm.
In addition to ATDC, partners include the American Technology Venture Lab, Atlanta Tech Park, Atlanta Tech Village, Innovate Charlotte, South Carolina Research Authority, NextGen, and Tech Alpharetta.
Six finalists will present their startups; companies may be in fields such as healthcare, AI, business software, climate tech, finance, and more.
Each company will present and take questions from both our judges and the audience. The judges panel will pick a winner and the audience will participate in an audience poll.
HBS Alumni Angels of Greater New York is the second largest angel network in the Northeast and invests between $3M to $4M per year in pre-seed and seed stage startups. A startup founder need not have gone to Harvard in order to apply for funding.

Jim is a serial Internet entrepreneur, angel/seed stage investor, and author. He founded and exited three companies — WestEnd New Media in the late 90s focused on providing Internet strategy advice to media firms; ShermansTravel Media (2002 to present), a leading publisher of hand-picked travel deals, and Hamptons Lane, an e-commerce venture targeting foodies. He has deep experience in digital media, advertising & marketing, and e-commerce. His former corporate roles include strategy consulting (Bain & Co.) and publishing (Time Inc.; Pearson; Martha Stewart Living). He loves travel, the theater, and international politics.

Christopher Edwards joined Reitler Kailas & Rosenblatt LLP in 2008 and provides counsel to a variety of venture capital funds and to a broad range of companies, from start-ups to publicly-traded entities, in the fields of venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, banking, securities and general corporate law. He has particularly deep and broad experience with emerging-growth companies in industries ranging from financial data to fintech, insurtech, manufacturing, media, medicine, online consumer and business-to-business platforms, proptech, retail, railroads, robotics and other technology, including artificial intelligence.
Earlier in his career, he worked in several large law firms including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, focusing primarily on structured finance but also on mergers and acquisitions, equipment financing, secured lending, and other corporate transactions, before serving as an Assistant General Counsel in the Bank of America legal department. He also spent significant time in Europe and speaks fluent French.
