VIRTUAL – Achieving Vitality in the Context of Community

Wed, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Zoom Meeting (Information to be sent to Registrants)
General PublicDaytime

Description

As people age and retire, they can become more disconnected and bored. With COVID, isolation and boredom have reached unprecedented levels. There are many online classes, but as good as these classes may be, they typically don’t offer people what is most essential, direct contact and friendship.

Vitality Society offers a unique solution to the isolation faced by some people who are over 60. Unlike other services which just offer classes, Vitality has created these classes around a community of people. Vitality’s goal is to build a community through interesting and inspiring events. It is like a small college campus for those over 60 on Zoom. It offers multiple classes every day via Zoom including exercise, cardio, meditation, yoga, rehab, dance, art, music, and education.

Members get to know each other. They come before and stay after the classes to chat and share experiences. Even though many have not met in person, they have become friends. Members may also take the lead in creating events. One member, who is an artist, created and curated an art show of members’ art. Other members have made presentations to the group on their specialties in medicine, politics, books, and other subjects.

This Daytime virtual program will be a Zoom presentation by the Vitality Society Founder & CEO, Meredith Oppenheim (HBS 2001) which will include Q&A and discussion followed by an actual Vitality Society class. For an advanced peak, go to https://www.vitality-society.com/posts/vitality-society-video-overview and see an abc-tv clip at: https://www.vitality-society.com/posts/vitality-society-video-overview Consider encouraging your spouse to join in as well.

Upon Registering, you will receive the Zoom link by September 28th to join in the presentation and Q&A, starting at 1:00PM. Then you can participate and link into an actual Vitality Society class at 2:00PM as a chance to see and participate in “Physical Therapy”, one of many classes suited to our audience.

Participants must register by September 29th to receive details on joining the discussion.
