About Startup Partners
The Startup Partners program invites promising early stage ventures to a free consulting session with a panel of seasoned HBS Alumni entrepreneurs, angel investors and executives.
As part of the Startup Partners program, HBS alumni volunteers provide the following:
– Advice on strengthening business plans and strategies for raising capital
– Candor that helps focus startup’s strategy and clarifies customer pain points
– Insights on product-market fit and scaling business.
This session will focus on COVERR, founded by Kobina Ansah, who is a Wharton MBA '15. COVERR is a winner of the Harvard Black New Venture Competition.
COVERR is an online financial services provider customized for Gig Economy workers
(independent contractors, such as Uber Drivers or DoorDash delivery personnel). Currently
50M+ Gig Economy workers operate in the United States and represent one of the fastest
growing labor segments, yet have difficulty accessing business financing due to their lack of
standard underwriting criteria. COVERR evaluates alternative and traditional factors to provide
contractors with capital to help stabilize earnings volatility, ongoing business expenses or small
emergencies.
