VIRTUAL – The Pandemic World – Before, Now and After

Wed, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Zoom Webinar (Information to be sent to Registrants)
General PublicHBS Professors

Description

The World Was on Shaky Ground Before the Pandemic, Then the Greatest Economic Shock of Our Lifetimes. What Happens Next?

Harvard Business School Senior Lecturer and Blackstone Senior Advisor John Dionne will build the case for a “Square Root Recovery” (as opposed to V-shaped), which is one of an abbreviated sharp economic rebound followed by three-plus years of an economy running meaningfully below its 2019 highs.

Professor Dionne will talk about the failed stimulus efforts and massive deficits going into the crisis, the negative impact of high savings rates, already deteriorating emerging markets, a “no -growth Japan,” and European recession as a starting point before COVID. We are left today with a battle against the epidemic not yet won, massive incremental indebtedness, stubbornly high unemployment, and the resulting impact on new world order, including clear winners and losers.

Last, Mr. Dionne will take the audience through some rapidly evolving and surprising social trends of our time.

Participants must register by August 25th to receive details on joining the discussion.

Please note that no refunds will be issued.
